Description

Long sessions mean hours of sun overhead and glare bouncing off the water. Most hats don’t make it past the first set. The ‘Shady Surf Hat’ is built for the water: light enough that you forget you’re wearing it, and secure so it’s still on your head when you paddle back in.

Locked on in the surf. A soft neoprene chin strap with a quick-release clip holds through duck-dives, wipeouts and offshore gusts. It’s the same soft, stretchy material as your wetsuit, so there’s no rope string digging into your chin.

Secure on dry land. Back on the sand, swap to the detachable longer strap with a toggle. It keeps the hat on during windy beach walks, on the boat and on the walk back to the car.

Business up front, party at the back. At 20cm, the mullet flap gives the back of your neck and ears more cover than most. That’s where you burn while you’re sitting out the back waiting for sets. The 8cm brim shades your face and holds its shape wet or dry, so it won’t flop over your eyes.

Floats if it gets away. If you lose it in a wipeout, it’ll be bobbing on the surface waiting for you.

Featherweight and quick-dry. Our Storm Camo ripstop is super light and dries fast between sessions.

Serious sun protection. Certified UPF50+ by ARPANSA, blocking 98% of harmful UV.

Made for surfing, bodyboarding, SUP, kayaking, fishing, sailing and long days at the beach.

FAQs

How does it fit?

60cm head circ with adjustable toggle at the back. One size fits most.

Will it stay on in the surf?

Yes, that’s what it’s built for. The neoprene chin strap holds it on through duck-dives and wipeouts, and the quick-release clip means it comes off fast when you want it to.

What if it comes off anyway?

It floats, so it’ll be sitting on the surface waiting for you.

Will it blow off on a windy day at the beach?

No. Clip on the detachable toggle chin strap and it stays put on the sand, the boat or the cliff walk.

What’s the second strap for?

The longer toggle strap is for out of the water. It keeps your hat secure in the wind without the snug fit of the neoprene chin strap.

Does the brim flop over my eyes when it’s wet?

No. The 8cm brim holds its shape wet or dry, so your view of the next set stays clear.

Why the mullet flap?

When you’re sitting out the back waiting for waves, the back of your neck cops the sun the whole session. The 20cm flap covers your neck and ears, with no sunscreen to sweat or wash off.

Is the neoprene strap comfortable?

Yes. Neoprene is the same soft, stretchy material as your wetsuit, so it won’t rub or chafe on long sessions.

Is it unisex?

Yes, it’s made for everyone.

Can I wear it for other water sports?

Definitely. It’s great for SUP, kayaking, fishing, sailing, bodyboarding, or a day on the sand.

Do I still need sunscreen?

Yes, for any skin the hat doesn’t cover. Water reflects UV, so slip, slop, slap matters even more out there.
